Today, I want to tell you about cinema!!
I have worked at cinema for one year because I like the atmosphere of cinema.


Before we enter each theatre, what do we do??


Yeah, we buy snacks and drinks at concession.

( The sales of concession is so important for cinemas, so please don't enter theatres without buying anything:-P)

The standard item of cinema is popcorn!!

However, why people eat popcorn at movie theatre???

There are some opinions.

・because people can eat it without large sound

・when the movie is boring, american throw it at the screen.
popcorn is soft, so it does not hurt other people when it hits them.

As one of cinema staff, I think popcorn is easy to clean!

Popcorn is white, so it's easy to find in dark theatre, and we can clean it only by sweep the floor.
Sticky food is hard to clean:-(

That is why Popcorn is sold at cinema.

Now in America, there are some cinemas where we can have meals.

We can watch movies and have a meal like restaurants at once.

On each seat there is a menu screen, and people order meals. A staff brings dishes!!

I think this system is interesting!! However, I am worried about the sound of eating, and smell of dish.

Besides, I can't concentrate on the movie while eating. Perhaps I miss important scenes.

Hello!! It's the Star Festival today!!

Today, I ate convenience store's sweets!!
It's "HALOHALO". We can buy it at "MINI STOP"

Every year I eat it because it's so delicious.
I bought sparkling grape and soda flavor.(Of cource I ate only one.)
Sparkling grape one is avialable only this year, so I ate that one.

~Comparison~

I compared advertised picture and the real thing. I think they are not so different..

Ice cream is melting, but it looks still cold. Then the taste is not different what I expected.

Maybe I will get off the topic, but I remember Japanese comedian TV program.

They tell restaurants whose building is old and dirty, but delicious food is served there.( Does it make sense??)

What I want to say is that we can't judge all things by appearence:-D

I'll tell you the contents of HALOHALO.

As you can see, on the top, there is ice cream!! "MINI STOP's Soft Cream" is so, so, so nice because it has creamy and rich taste.

Under it, there are jelly, nata de coco and shaved ice with grape syrup.

In addition, pieces of candy which sparkle in my mouth are hidden!! Oh my god!

Do you wanna try it, don't you!???

MINI STOP is a unique convenience store because there are tables and chairs in each shop like fast food shops.

(This picture is different MINI STOP with the one near my house.)

You can buy some parfaits, junk food such as potato and deep-fried chicken, and coffee.You can use MINI STOP not only as a convinience store, but also as a fast food shop.

I think MINI STOP is the place people gather!!! ( but I don't want bad young street boys to gather there:-O)

Today, I want to talk about color of food!!!

I love color!! I get excited when I see colorful or vivid things.
I would like to study color. (but I haven't studied it at all)




In fact, we get messages from color of food.
I think I may get motivation when I eat red kimchi.



Red: gives Passion, Fighting Spirit, motivation
so it is useful before a game or an important event??
(Tomato, Red Pepper, Apple etc.)

Pink: is the image color of Love, Softness, Tenderness
so it is good when you cook dish for someone you love??
(Peach, Salmon, shrimp etc.)

Orange: gives Vitality and Hapiness
Orange food makes you feel like eating a lot or communicating someone
(Orange, Carrot, Pumpkin etc.)

Yellow: gives Confidence
it is useful when you want to be refleshed or reduce stress
(Lemon, Egg, Corn etc.)

Green: is the image color of Nature and Healthiness
it is good when you want to relax or when you are busy
(Lettuce, Cucumber, Kiwi etc.)

Violet: is the image color of Nobleness
Violet food is good when you want to get inspiration or think something deeply
(Egg plant, Purple potato, Blueberry etc.)

Blue: is the image color of Peace and Trust
(There may be no Blue food around us)

I have heard blue spoils our appetite.
Then, it is good for people who want to lose weight to wear sunglasses whose lenses are blue.

I may get some massages from food without noticing, and I thought I can use food color in order to express my feeling. When I want to build good relation with someone again after a quarrel, eating green dish with that person might be helpful.

Hello!! It was very very very hot today!!!!

Unfortunately, I had to wear my suit today....

I sweated from my head to toe. What a terrible job hunting student I was.




I got tired because of hot weather, so I felt like eating something sweet.

Then, I bought a package of Cafe Latte. I often buy this because this is sweet, creamy.

This drink is suitable for my childish sense of taste! You can buy 130 yen:-D

By the way, why people want to eat something sweet when they are tired???

There is a reason why we want sweets.

When we use our brains or bodies, glucose is used. Blood sugar level falls dawn.

On that time, our brains want sugar, so we want to eat sweets automatically.

Sugar turns into glucose in our bodies quickly after we take sugar, and gulcose helps our brain.

When we use our brain, eating sweets is one of the best ways to relax.

However, when we exercise, that way is not the best one. Having carbohydrate is better.

Not only sugar(glucose), but also Vitamin B1 is needed in order to move our bodies.

Sweets don't contain enough Vitamin B1, but carbohydrate(especially, brown rice bread) contains enough glucose and Vitamin B1.

When you got tired, what do you want to eat??

Actually, when I really get tired physically, I may not want to eat bread or rice:-P

I eat an ice cream, drink a cup of juice. (Then there is no space in my stomach for dinner.)

Besides, I think the best way to charge my energy is sleeping!!

Sleeping makes me forget bad things happened on that day. Of course, I can get energy to be fine tomorrow. I love sleeping!!!

Today, I watched DVD which title was "Honokaa Boy".

Do you know this film??









This movie's location is Hawaii island.






I love Hawaii!!!( but, I have never been to Hawaii island)


I love the atmosphere.


I love the combination of ocean's brilliant blue and coconuts trees' vivid green.




This movie story passes slowly, so I relaxed so much.









There is what I want to eat in Hawaii. That is "Malasada".




In this movie, Malasada appeared. At a cinema, home-made Malasada was sold.

I have been to Hawaii, but I didn't know the exist of Malasada.

Perhaps, I knew it because recently a famous Japanese model introduced it on TV.

Malasada is a sweet like Japanese fried bread(agepan) or fried donuts. In Hawaii, it is so popular.
Taste of sugar and soft texture make it delicious. (maybe:-9)







Malasada was made in Portugal, and Portuguese immigrant brought it to Hawaii.
(There is suprising connections between countries, isn't there?)



Those days, catching whales was active in Europe, so Portuguese came to Hawaii to get whales.








In catholicism, there is a rule that people must finish thier sugar and butter before Easter's previous 40 days. On the 41 day before Easter, there is a custom eating something fried. Then, people made a lot of Malasada, held a party and enjoy eating it.

By the way, we can eat Malasada in Japan, we can make it by ourselves.

In Yokohama, kanagawa prefecture, there is a Malasada shop "Leonard's"
Leonard's is popular in Hawaii. (Of course there is Leonard's in Hawaii, too)

There is a restaurant ' GUSTEAU's RESTAURANT' in Paris.

He dreams that he becomes a chef in the future. He also respects Gusteau because Gusteau believes anyone can cook. (Remy is a rat, but it does not matter.)

I have never eaten this food. This food is French home cooking.

Zucchini, eggplant, tomato and paprika are stewed. I thought ingredients are different from Japanese food.(COOL!) We don't use zucchini in daily cooking.

What is a home cooking for Japanese? Niku-jaga?

Hello! Today I ate a piece of watermelon.

Watermelon's best season is summer. Now is May, but it was enough sweet to eat.

In fact, today is the restaurant car day!!

(We are able to use restaurant cars while we are on trains.)

Hokutosei Dining Car




The first restaurant car run on May 25, 1899.



Restaurant cars are unfamiliar to young people.

I have never used them!! In addition, I haven't ridden on the train which had a restaurant.

Restaurant cars are called dining cars or buffet cars, too.

There are few trains connected restaurant cars.





In Japan, all Shinkansen' s dining cars were stopped using. We can see them only in some sleeping cars such as Hokutosei, Twilight Express and Cassiopeia.

Can you guess why shinkansen's restaurants were shut??



According to some websites, it was because the speed of shinkansen became faster.

We are able to arrive at destinations in one or two hours, so we don't have to have meals on train.



Even though we would like to eat something, now we are able to eat Ekiben(box lunches we buy at some stations and on trains)


Passengers have to go to a dining car in person to eat dishes, and sometimes table is full. They have to wait for vacant seats. It is not efficient....





In case of ekiben, we eat them on our seats, and we are able to eat whenever we want them.







I don't know whether dish served on dining cars is delicious or not. I'm not sure that dish is expensive or cheap. (Maybe expensive?) However, I would like to use a restaurant car!!!


Besides, I think restaurant cars should be spread!!





I think passengers are able to enjoy eating delicious food, viewing beautiful scenes and chatting with thier families, boy friends and girls and friends at the same time on restaurant cars!!!

How good restaurant cars are!!!!





People should improve dishes served on this car, and the train which has a restaurant car had better run railways we can see beautiful scenery. The train must be slow while passing there. The number of restaurant's tables should be increased.







It will be a new trip style. Is it too luxury??

We eat Taiyaki-kun

Hello!! It's hot today, isn't it?

Today, I'll tell you about one of Japanese sweets.

I ate "taiyaki" for my today's snack.

I ate taiyaki whose contants was custard cream.
Traditional taiyaki contains red bean jam, but I don't like adzuki beans. (Why did people who created taiyaki select red bean jam as contents. Japanese often put it in sweets...um...)

When I go to a taiyaki shop, I always choose chocolate cream or custard cream taiyaki!!

Now taiyaki is hot somehow. Around my home, there are about five taiyaki shops.

Ordinary taiyaki is covered with soft and a little dry coating. The taste and the texture of this coating are like a hot cake's. (Taiyaki was made in Japan in the begenning of 1900s)

However, there are various kinds of taiyaki in Japan now. Contents are chestnut cream, caramel cream, chocolate and banana, chocolate and OREO and so on...

In addition, there are a variety of coatings. White taiyaki is a taiyaki whose coating is white and sticky like "mochi". There is taiyaki whose coating is thin, so its surface is crispy.

Which kind of taiyaki do you like? Have you ever seen unique ones?

The English lyrics is not so different from the Japanese ones, and I felt this song was cool than Japanese one because it was sung in English(;-D) Especially, I liked " I want to be free".
I knew taiyaki's life was so harsh...

Japanese one was released in 1975. More than 5 million discs has sold until now. WOW!!

The reason why this song became popular is not sure, but it seems that office workers sympathized with taiyaki destiny. They also wanted to run away from thier busy offices, and they wanted to do what they want to do!!

Now we think ' If you want to quit your job, you had better do that.' This is because we are permitted to do whatever freely. However, I think those days it was difficult to act against what everyone does. I wonder if we were born in good era.

Taiyaki-Kun, good job!!! You are cool.

Korean color is red

Hi! Today is rainy...Did you enjoy something today?
I have been at home all day long. I didn't feel like doing anything:P
I just watched 'glee', which is American TV series.

I went to a Korean restaurant 'ri san no daidokoro' in kaihimmakuhari with my friends yesterday.
I ate a big bowl of Bulgogi and my friends ate Samgyeopsal and Bibimbap. They said this Korean food was delicious!!!


A Bowl of Bulgogi (it's lke sukiyaki)

Samgyeopsal(grilled slices of pork)




Ingredients of Bulgogi were beef, beansprouts, cabbage, onion, rice and yolk.
All of them were burnt in a stone bowl, so I was too hot to put them on my tongue.


However, Bulgogi was delicious!! It was not spicy. It was sweet and salty because it might be seasoned with soy sauce and sesame oil. Later, I added 'Hot Pepper Paste' to change the taste of dish. It became more delicious than before.








We associate 'Korean food' with 'spicy'.
Why is Korean food so spicy? Why do they often use red pepper for food?





A long time ago, Korean believed in Confucianism. Due to the effect of that religion, they respected their senior people. They hoped senior's health, so Korean people considered nutrition balance in food.


Fortunately, on that time, red pepper came to Korea.


Red pepper go match with meat and contain a lot of vietamin C.
We suffer from sicknesses if we lack vietamin C. Vietamin C help assimilate iron and calcium.


There is story that Korean began to use red pepper to hide tasteless or just salty food behind hot taste. Korea was poor because of many wars.

Red pepper was cheaper than Japanese Pepper, so it was easy to get it and became popular.




I think red pepper is useful to sweat. Korean are beautiful because they take sweat out.












I was surprised that Korean spicy food have connected with their religion.

Their idea is eating is good for health.
In fact, I don't like spicy food, but I try to think about nutrition when I eat something.

Goya Chanpuru

Hello!! Today I didn't have any class, so I slept a lot:-Q, so now I am fine!!


I cooked "Goya Chanpuru" for dinner.
It is okinawa food. Okinawa is one of Japanese prefectures, and it is in south Japan.

"Goya" is bitter melon. "Chanpuru" means 'mixed with vegetables and tofu' in okinawa dialect.


Ingredient



goya---1 piece
pork---100g
tofu---1 piece(350g) Today I used 2 pieces
egg---2 pieces
goya chanpuru's sauce---1 pack

All of them you can get at a super market.

Let's start cooking it!

1. cut goya in half and clear goya's seed and contents with spoon. Then slice 2~3 centimeters in thickness.
Put them on plate, add salt and wait for 10 minutes.
2.cut tofu in small size, cut pork, dissolve eggs
3.fry tofu until its surface is burned. Then put them on other plate.
4.fry pork and goya well and add tofu and goya chanpuru's sauce.

5.add egg and mix them.
6. finish!!

It was easy to cook this. However, goya is difficult to remove its bitterness.
My mother said "I can't eat this piece of goya alone because it is too bitter, but goya is delicious when I eat with tofu." Actually,tofu's taste is soft, so it matches goya.

Goya chanpuru was eaten only in okinawa before, but now all Japanese know and eat this dish. This is because it appeared on TV a lot of times.
Okinawa people love it, and they often eat it. Maybe this dish is easy to cook and they are easy to get goya, so it is loved by okinawa people.

It might be difficult to buy goya at stores except okinawa and I didn't know what goya is before goya chanpuru came on TV. Now goya is accepted by a lot of people in spite of that bitterness.
According to a reserch, goya has effect of treating diabetes.

goya is healthy food, so I would like to eat it periodically.



Oh! The day of May 8 is Goya day because "Go" means five and "Ya" means eight in Japanese.

Let's eat bitter melon on that day!!!
